handmade Bellingen Shire...
showcasing the diversity of the local creative community

Welcome to the Bellingen Shire, a region of exciting environmental and cultural diversity.

From the beautiful unspoiled beaches to the heritage listed Dorrigo National Park the townships of Urunga, Bellingen and Dorrigo are home to an eclectic mix of visual and performing artists, multimedia houses and major festivals and events.

The arts and crafts sector forms an integral sector of the Creative Industries Strategy contained in the Bellingen Shire Economic Development Plan. The sector is a positive contributor to the local economy through employment opportunities and wealth creation.

The Creative Industries are supported by the monthly Bellingen Community Markets and nationally acclaimed events such as Camp Creative, Stamping Ground, Bellingen Jazz Festiva, Bellingen Global Carnival and the Bellingen Art Prize.

The second edition of the Handmade booklet continues to provide a comprehensive guide to the exciting array of visual arts, crafts, festivals and events within the Shire. Look for the Handmade in Bellingen Shire logo on products to ensure that the item has been locally crafted and most of all enjoy exploring the beautiful and diverse Bellingen Shire.

The "Handmade in the Bellingen Shire.. Naturally" booklet has been made possible through the provision of a financial grant from the Department of State and Regional Development to the Bellingen Shire Council. In relation to the latest edition, the Mid North Coast Development Board has also made a financial contribution. The Board was originally responsible for the "handmade" concept being adopted by Mid North Coast Councils.

The booklet is available from visitor's centres, galleries, cafes, bed and breakfasts throughout the Shire and the Coffs Coast. You can download the publication in PDF format two halves here: pages 1 to 21 and pages 22 to 41.
